Welcome to Stream Youth Ministries! Highland Park Presbyterian Church
Offering for Haiti
In response to the earthquake in Haiti, the Youth and Children’s Department is going to have an offering focus from now until the end of August for an orphanage in Haiti called Canaan Orphanage. We first heard about Canaan from Cari Cassell, one of our high school youth leaders, who has been there twice with Medical/VBS teams. After spending time there, Cari knows the area and continues to have a relationship with staff and others involved in that ministry. This is truly a unique opportunity for us to have this first hand experience with such a great ministry. This video about Haiti and the Canaan Orphanage is on our Youth website and was shown to all Youth Sunday Schools this past Sunday. It is our hope that our youth will truly feel a personal connection with the children in this orphanage and feel compelled to help them by giving regularly to the Sunday school offering. In the past years HPPC has helped given the children of Canaan with a water well and provided school supplies and flip flops for the children. HPPC Youth also hosted many of the older children here in our Bell Center on a special educational trip to the States, gifting them with sleeping bags and more food than they knew what to do with!
You can read more about Canaan on their website at Cannan Orphanage. We all want to help the people in Haiti in some way and this is an opportunity for our youth to have a part that can be truly meaningful for them.
